THE FINEMANNEW PHOTOGRAPHY AWARD

THE FINEMAN NEW PHOTOGRAPHY AWARD

The Ballarat International Foto Biennale presented the inaugural The Fineman New Photography Award in 2019. This award places the focus on photographic artists working throughout the Asia-Pacific region; seeking to find those whose work is beginning to receive critical attention and deserves to be seen by international audiences.

For the second time, the Ballarat International Foto Biennale is excited to launch The Fineman New Photography Award in 2021. A selection of up to six artists will receive an exhibition within the Biennale Core Program alongside other finalists and receive support from BIFB curators in the realisation of their exhibition.

All applicants will have their submissions reviewed by an international jury of leading curators and gallery directors. Judges will award one cash prize of AUD $10,000 to an overall winner, with an extra AUD $1,000 being awarded to the People’s Choice, as voted by the public.

This award is proudly supported by Alane Fineman.

Entries will be judged by Fayen Ke-Xiao D’Evie, Lecturer RMIT University; Pippa Dickson, Director Asialink Arts; Gwen Lee, Director Singapore International Photography Festival; Eriko Noguchi, Independent curator; Miho Odaka, Independent curator of photography; Jim Ramer, Director MFA Photography Parsons School of Design; Shubigi Rao, Artist and writer; Bala Starr, Director La Trobe Art Institute; Alexander Supartono, Curator and Lecturer Edinburgh Napier University; and Fiona Sweet, Director Ballarat International Foto Biennale.
